Overview

The Researcher Handbook serves as a resource guide for researchers as they navigate the research environment at the University of Iowa. The Researcher Handbook includes information to help all researchers learn about and find the resources they need within the UI Human Research Protection Program and on the UI campus.

Research Navigation Tool for New Faculty and Research Scientists

The Office of the Vice President for Research offers many services and collaborative opportunities to help researchers get started at the UI.

UI Research Administration units use a web-based tool to begin the onboarding process for new faculty and research scientists. To help us better assist you with setting up your research program, the navigation tool provides information about each unit and collects information about the nature of your research. Based on your responses, representatives from the various Research Administration and Compliance units will contact you to provide guidance and support during your onboarding process. When you complete the survey, you will receive an email with unit descriptions from the navigation tool.

For general information about the navigation tool and the onboarding process for new faculty and researcher scientists, please contact Kelly O’Berry, Assistant Director for IRB Education and Outreach in the Human Subjects Office (319) 335-8477 or irb@uiowa.edu. [NOTE: Although the navigation tool is managed by the Human Subjects Office, it is not just for human subjects researchers. We encourage animal researchers and bench scientists to use this tool.]
