In certain circumstances, the Western IRB (WIRB) may also be used as a Central IRB.

Submission Process

Users should log into HawkIRB to submit a WIRB application by completing the Pre Project Data Checklist. The steps to follow for a submission are the same for a traditional WIRB application. If the study is federally funded, then answer the appropriate question in the Pre Project Data Checklist regarding the requirement to use a single IRB for a multi-site study.  The University of Iowa research team will be responsible for adhering to all IRB requirements of the IRB of record. All University of Iowa institutional policies and procedures as well as all Human Research Protection Program Committee(s) policies and procedures will still apply to research conducted under this option.
