Education: Clinical Trials Methodology Course for faculty: adaptive design and foundations

Please consider this NINDS-sponsored neuroscience clinical trials methodology course with 2 tracks – a foundations course and an adaptive trials course.

The PIs for the course include Chris Coffey and Laurie Gutmann from the University of Iowa, Will Meurer from University of Michigan, and Roger Lewis from UCLA/Harbor.

It entails 4 days off site in the summer (this year in Ann Arbor) but for the foundations course, will take a new investigator from a study protocol idea to eventually a mock IRB and study section, with ongoing assistance from biostatisticians and senior clinical investigator teams.  The adaptive course is for more experienced clinical researchers.  There is no cost to the applicants.

Please consider this excellent opportunity.  There have been course participants who were neurologists, neurosurgeons, trauma surgeons, physiatrists, physical therapists, and emergency medicine doctors.  The course was in Iowa City last year but there were no participants from U of Iowa.  It is an excellent roster of teachers, great to take advantage of – it would be good to have U of Iowa representation other than in the faculty.

For any questions please contact Laurie Gutmann, Professor of Neurology: Laurie-Gutmann@uiowa.edu.
